Frequently Asked Questions

Updated April 2023

How can I find out when new work is added to your shop?
The best way to stay up to date is by signing up for my mailing list - you will be the first to be notified of any new pieces/collections for sale.

Are shipping costs included?
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout and depend on the size and type of purchase and your location. We take every care when packaging paintings and work with trusted companies.  Full payment is to be received before goods are shipped and all prices are quoted in New Zealand dollars.

Every care will be used to ensure you are happy with your purchase.

How big are your paintings?
There are a selection of sizes – all measurements are quoted on their product page.

What supplies do you use?
Artist grade supplies are used.

Golden and Atelier are acrylic brands of choice, Winsor & Newton or Schmincke are used for watercolour, and other mixed media work may also have ink, oil pastels and graphite used.
Watercolour Paper –  acid free paper is used.
Cradled wood – these are wood frames with a panel attached and resist flexing and warping.
Canvas – 35mm stretched canvasses on robust pine frames.

Do I need to have the art framed?
For art that’s created on paper we recommend framing it behind glass to protect it. Original artwork will be supplied in a pre-cut mat and mounting board and you can simply insert the mat/board into your own frame of choice. There are many retailers offering frames at reasonable costs.

For art on cradled wood, the sides are natural wood and remain unpainted so framing is not required.

For paintings on canvas the sides are painted and so framing is not required. As a matter of personal preference, you could certainly arrange to have the work framed - we don’t offer this service at this time.

How do I hang the work?
Works on paper will be supplied with a pre-cut mat and mounting board for easy insertion into your own frame.
All cradled wood and canvas paintings have hardware fitted onto the back and are ready to hang.

How do I protect a painting from dirt and dust?
Once a painting on canvas or cradled wood is finished it is protected with at least two coats of varnish to seal it. This protects the painting from dust and also makes the colours appear richer and deeper.

Over the years dirt and dust will stick to the varnish rather than the acrylic paint underneath, and a soft, lint-free cloth can be used over the surface to clean off the dust and make the painting look as good as new.

Generally, original work on paper is unvarnished. We recommend framing it behind glass.

Can I return a painting?
Please refer to our terms and conditions for full details.
