About Me

Hi there,

I'm so glad you're here!

Let me tell you how an ordinary person from Aotearoa New Zealand

accidentally became an artist.

I'm an Artist and Surface Pattern Designer (SPD).

My first passion is for florals! As a self-taught painter, I work mainly with acrylics and LOVE to express myself using vibrant colours.

When designing my surface patterns, I enjoy working with mixed media - first creating illustrations and artwork on paper and then digitising my work to complete patterns.

My patterns sell successfully as fabric, wallpaper and homeware through Spoonflower and I'm working on building my first cohesive collection.

You can also find me regularly exhibiting and selling my paintings at

Hutt Art Centre,

Lower Hutt.

More info about what I'm up to is in my blog.

Creating art for me is a pleasure, a gentle source of learning and growth, and a safe way to explore and bring joy to the world.

As a survivor of a TBI (traumatic brain injury) following an accident many years ago there have been numerous challenges and many years spent trying to be 'normal'.

One day... my Mum encouraged me to pick up a paint brush and create something. I was reluctant because "I can't paint!"

Not only did I produce a painting that day (with lots of patience and encouragement) but I found that I could express myself freely and produce something beautiful, even if I wasn't feeling so beautiful. Since then I've been on a constant learning journey of painting, and self discovery, and found art to be so therapeutic and magical.

My love of nature began in sunny Hawkes Bay where I was born and spent my childhood - in a region renowned for its wonderful ocean beaches, scenic rivers, fresh produce, and beautiful flora and fauna. I have a huge sense of nostalgia and love returning to visit my place of birth, to spend time with family and to find inspiration for my work.

I now live near the river in Lower Hutt and incorporate creativity into my life daily. Mixed media art brings me happiness, a sense of worth, and a chance to experience child-like play!

I have first-hand knowledge of the healing power of art and of nature and blend this into my practice to contribute to the mental wellbeing of myself and my viewers
